1975… 2022

Morzine welcomes the Tour de France for the 21st time in 2022!

1975: 47 years ago Morzine hosted one of the most famous bike races for the first time in its history.

2022: the Tour de France returns for the 21st time to this resort in the Portes du Soleil. 6 years after its last visit, Morzine is once again on the Tour de France route.

The Portes du Soleil is the gateway to the mountains for the 109th Tour de France: after a stage finish in Châtel on Sunday the 10th of July, the start of the 10th stage is in MORZINE for a stage of 148 km heading to Megève.

The riders will take advantage of Morzine for the first rest day of the 2022 Tour de France, on Monday the 11th of July. It’s not simply luck that Morzine was chosen for this. The quality of hotels, its ideal altitude (1 000m), its roads that are perfect for training and not losing rhythm: the riders benefit from a perfect place to rest before taking on the big Alpine cols.

This dynamic is what has enabled our mountain village to not only be awarded the “Terre de Jeux 2024”, but above all to be chosen as a preparation center for cycling for the Olympics in 2024.
